IN REMEMBRANCE: June 21, 2008 Dr. Franklyn Chapman Hill Jr.

1926 - 2008 Franklyn Chapman Hill, Jr., MD, past president of the SF Neurological Society from 1978 – 1979, and longtime neurologist in the Bay Area, passed away suddenly on June 21, 2008, at the age of 81. Dr. Hill was in private practice for 40 years, and was on the staff of Highland, Alta Bates, Alameda, and what is now Summit Medical Center in Oakland. He was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy and a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Hill is survived by his brother David, his wife of 49 years Martha Hill, daughters Elizabeth, Anne, Martha and Sarah, seven grandchildren, and eleven nieces and nephews. Dr. Hill was a very important and memorable member of the SF Neurological Society and he actively supported the SFNS for more than 30 years. There was scarcely a meeting of the Society that Dr. Hill did not attend, usually being the first one to arrive.  Services will be held on Monday June 30th, 3 p.m., at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. (Excerpts taken from the Bay Area News Group publication on 6/24/2008).

Dr. Hill graciously volunteered his talented wife Martha to entertain participants at the 56th Annual Meeting reception in Sonoma. From left: Dr. Franklyn Hill, Martha Hill, Molly Anderson and Roz Silberrman.
