SAN FRANCISCO NEUROLOGICAL SOCIETY
Neuromuscular disease in general is a field with a paucity of evidence-based practice. Neuromuscular specialists tend to practice based on personal experience, anecdotes from respected colleagues of choice, and bias from their particular educational institutions. Dr. Eric Collins and Dr. Michael Gibbs will have a spirited discussion on the proper diagnosis, treatment, and management of myasthenia gravis. Available scientific data will be presented to bolster various viewpoints. All those with opinions on the subject are welcome to enter the fray. Eric Collins, MD graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in chemistry and psychobiology. He attended medical school at the University of Kansas and did his internship at UC San Diego. Dr Collins completed his residency at the University of Southern California and after being Chief Resident, he completed his fellowship in neuromuscular disease at the USC Neuromuscular Center. Michael Gibbs, MD is a neurologist with Kaiser-Permanente in Walnut Creek. His main clinical interests are in neuromuscular disease and electrodiagnosis. Dr. Gibbs attended medical school at Loyola University in Chicago and completed his residency in neurology at the University of Arizona and the University of Southern California. He then completed a fellowship in neuromuscular disease at the University of Southern California Neuromuscular Center.
