Mission Statement

The purpose of the San Francisco Neurological Society is to increase, improve and disseminate knowledge of the nervous system and to improve the practice of neurology and neurological surgery within the area of the Society's influence in the Western United States.

Statement of Commitment to Continuing Medical Education

The San Francisco Neurological Society is an organization of physicians with a dedicated interest in the clinical neurosciences. The Society is committed to the continuing medical education of its members and has an obligation to its members and to the public to provide ongoing educational programs designed to improve patient care and foster scholarly activity in the neurosciences. This obligation includes not only imparting to the membership an increased understanding of neurological diseases through lectures on clinical and basic research, but also making them aware of community and public health issues related to neurological illnesses and preventive medicine.

The Society is a CMA-accredited provider.  Physicians attending SF Neurological Society programs may report up to 1 hour of Category 1 credit per hour of activity, toward the California Medical Association Certificate in Continuing Medical Education and the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award.  Members can received approximately 20 hours of CME throughout the year, 15 hours for the 3-day annual meeting in the spring and another 5 hours in dinner programs throughout the year, of Category 1, CME credits without ever leaving the Bay Area.
